Jimmy doesn’t decide what I do, either — but my point is that I’ve also done vacations that involve renting a place on the ocean/near a tropical beach (this is made much easier thanks to Airbnb/vrmo, I’ll grant).
I like that, too — but my experience has always been that the minute I suggest a day of just relaxing and enjoying the place? My family/fellow travelers always think I’m sort of madman with a screw loose, so not being a dictator? Fine, we’ll go into “town”. We’ll go...somewhere.
50-51+ weeks a year, all my adult life - I have responsibilities and a forced stack rank of things I HAVE to do, things I SHOULD so, and things I WANT to do. Now, I wouldn’t trade benefits of that for anything — that’s real life.
I’m simply saying: I treasure those “days at sea” to experience a bit of escapism in flip-flops and a cocktail and limiting the day’s choices to what we’re going to have for dinner.
I wouldn’t trade my life for 365 days of that - but if I get a few such days a year, sitting on a big, gaudy ship? I’ll take it.
I could get into that a bit...
