Trump is making a huge gamble: betting the farm on the outcome of the Iran war. If he wins quickly, America will control the Persian Gulf, the mullahs are overthrown, and energy prices will return to pre-war levels. There will be a cost in American lives, but in the end the United States will control a huge percentage of the world's energy supply. If he fails, we are dealing with two possible outcomes: either continued blockade by the Iranians and forcing nations to pay for oil in yuan rather than dollars, thereby weakening the petrodollar or Trump acceding to Iranian demands for withdrawal of American troops from the Middle East in exchange for continuing energy trade in dollars.

If Thune were Trump I believe MAGA would deliver a midterm victory. That's not to say that Trump can't be blamed for the lack of work place enforcement.

Between my brothers and sisters, there are 12 kids ranging in age from 20 to 33. All seven of the boys were solid for Trump in 2024.

He is literally a joke to them now. And I challenge anyone to look at the polling data and dismiss this as just another anecdote.

A real opportunity to cement a generational, multi-ethnic, populist right coalition has been blown to hell.
