I admit that I watched that game last night. (I am an admitted baseball junkie who also watches golf all the time) I turned it on at 6pm central because I didn’t realize that there was a pregame show but switched over after watching it for a couple of minutes due to the reasons mentioned in the previous posts. That woman was annoying and Alfred Pujols doesn’t seen to have a strong grasp of the English language.
The game coverage was pretty bad. The centerfield camera seemed to have the light exposure turned up too high so that angle made the stadium look like it was filled with fog for the first few innings. I clocked the fact that they missed the first use of ABS and mentioned it to the wife. I commented that the producer must not be a baseball fan or have done their homework if the allowed that to happen. First time in history and they missed it. I am not a fan of the ABS but I am not a fan of the DH in the National League or the goofy extra innings rule that puts a runner on second base to speed the game along. I am a traditionalist fan of the game since the late 70’s and I don’t like messing with the game.
I will say that the announcers were good. CC Sabathia was particularly entertaining.
The broadcasters of the game (not pre-game/post-game) are MLB Productions crew.
The DH doesn’t belong in the NL, agreed, but the WBSC (international) softball tiebreaker is like hockey’s 3-on-3 overtime, only used in the regular season. In Korea, there is a limit of two extra innings (11 overall) before it’s a tie game. In Japan (NPB) and Taiwan (CPBL), both the runner on second and the three-inning limit (12 overall) are used. The rule is not used in postseason.
A perfect game in theory ends after nine innings.
The FCC’s investigation into sporting events moved to premium pay is a rehashing of the 1975 policy the Supreme Court struck down in 1977 at the behest of HBO that has created the “gutter” of praising X-rated television and ending the idea of G rated shows.
Agree, that's inexcusable.
You’ll be the perfect one to comment on what I think I saw on a TV at the gym last week.. Appeared to be indoor virtual golf. Dude was hitting what looked like a real golf ball at a movie screen in a building of some sort. A computer would predict the trajectory and final placement of the virtual golf ball. Then he’d step to a rougher piece of grass and hit another ball at a different image on the movie screen.
Is this a thing?
