Israeli Officials Said U.S. Was Told about South Pars Attack
New York Times ^ | March 19, 2026 | Isabel Kershner

An Israeli strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field was coordinated with the Trump administration in advance, according to three Israeli officials, despite President Trump’s initial assertion in a social media post that the United States “knew nothing about” it. “The United States knew nothing about this particular attack,” Mr. Trump wrote in the social media post late Wednesday, saying that Israel had “violently lashed out.”

A day later, Mr. Trump appeared to have changed course. Speaking to reporters Thursday at the White House, Mr. Trump implied that he had spoken about the strike ahead of time with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. ”I told him don’t do that,” Mr. Trump said. He went on to say, “we’re independent. We get along great. It’s coordinated.” Israel has not commented publicly on the attack, carried out on Wednesday, or on Mr. Trump’s effort later Wednesday to distance the United States from it.

Three Israeli officials briefed on the South Pars strike said on Thursday that the United States was informed before the attack. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive diplomacy. Mr. Trump added in his social media post that Qatar, a U.S. ally, “was in no way, shape or form, involved with it,” nor “had any idea that it was going to happen.” The South Pars gas field is shared between Qatar and Iran. Hours after Wednesday’s attack on South Pars, natural gas facilities in Qatar were hit by strikes. Qatar blamed Iran. The attacks were the latest in a series of escalating strikes on energy infrastructure that have sent global oil and gas prices soaring. South Pars is part of the largest gas field in the world. Qatar is the world’s third-largest exporter of liquefied natural gas.

If the New Yawk Slimes says it-— it must be true? We don’t need their phlegm posted. Maybe it was shared, maybe not. The counter to this is that Trump approved what was taken out, and that there won’t be anymore. So what scum source (aside from their own inventive little minds making it up) did they get this “bombshell” from.

Constantly neener neener from the New Yawk Slimes. A failing internet digital rag of a “news” paper. Famed for the on the spot reporting of the Holodomor of their man in Moscow (Stalins personally controlled) Walter Duranty. A Pulitzer Prize pervo loser proven agit-prop. That is still this “paper”.

I dont believe for one second Trump knew about this, why, because of what he already has done. When he hit Kharg Island he purposely did NOT touch the oil, so he didnt touch the oil there but he told Israel its OK to destroy the other one, not possible

Here’s who Isabel Kershner is— the “opposition” in Israel
opposed to a whole lot of major operations of Israel, especially
the reaction to Oct 7 Hamas terrorism and the resulting clearing
of Gaza.

Here she is, and who/what she is shouts loudly from her
“work” history, British born, and formerly of The New Republic. Leftist— all the way and anti-Israel statehood, fakir. Let’s see how the Israeli media responds to this:

But... what does Qatarlson have to say about Iran attacking his mentor State and future home? Will he “blame the Jews” through Qatari intel contacts. Qatar still the banker state to the Iranian proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the PA?

Qatar is learning what partnership with Shiite islamofascists get them— as Qatar is no longer on track for their own goals of the Caliphate, as opposed to Erdogan’s Turkish delusions.
And Qatarlson? why he needs to suck on some more of his stupid a@@ tobacco pouches he sells. Truly an octomaroon with a bow tie.

I would be very surprised, stunned actually, if the US military was not informed of the Israeli attack on the Pars gas field.

When you are running the kind of combined operations we are in Iran, you keep in close coordination with your partners.

The IAF attack was so limited it can best be explained as a demonstration to get peoples attention.

And keeping Qatar nervous and preoccupied to keep them in line and out of mischief is not necessarily a bad thing either

People should consider the possibility that we’re witnessing a good-cop/bad-cop performance from the U.S. and Israel. I’m not saying that this is definitely taking place but it should at least be considered. In favor if this interpretation is that, while Trump denied knowledge of the strike and stated that there will be no more such strikes from Israel, he wouldn’t hesitate to hit those same fields himself if he deemed it necessary.

Good analysis. It pretty much comports with my take as well.

Plus Trump loves a little strategic drama and chaos in his day to fuel a good cop - bad cop response.

Besides, Qatar has tons of money to fix their plant.

At this point criticizing Israel or the US will make enemies. Saying you just want peace will have both sides gang bang your post. No comment

"...They spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive diplomacy..."

My ass. But this is truth to the Left and the shills who advance this narrative. Funny how it is always the same people here on FR.

My thoughts exactly! What a bunch of horse hockey. This chickie works and lives in Israel and strings to the NY Slimes. She is rather very much a leftie and opponent to Bibi et al and the preservation of the nation state she lives in.
And she is loyal to her pals at NY Slimes obviously.

She wouldn’t dare name what 3 said all this bullcrap. As of today Trump has made a clear statement of what he will NOT allow Israel to do with the rest of Pars. Pretty much puts pay to the bullcrap spewing from this Kershner woman. Don’t have any time to look at other crap she has spewed. One more opportunist apparently in the destruction of 50 years of “writing opportunities”!

Excellent post, FRiend...but then, as we all know, the NYT constitutes legitimate low-hanging fruit for conservatives with an eye towards those who want to see America’s enemies, foreign and domestic, prevail!
