My only issue wuth the Green Berets is that stupid faggoty French beret. Why didn’t they get a more manly, American kind of head covering, like a kepe (okay, I know that is French too, but a kepe doesn’t just slouch all over your head like a limp quiche or something.)

The beret is distinctive and allows for an individual style in the manner of wearing/creasing it.
Taking the black beret from the Rangers and forcing the entire army to wear it was a nasty, ridiculous decision that should be overturned.
Brits and other countries wore and still do wear berets of different colors. According to Wikipedia: “ Military berets are usually pushed to the right to free the shoulder that bears the rifle on most soldiers, but the armies of some countries, mostly within Europe, South America, and Asia, have influenced the push to the left (i.e. ‘French pull’).”
