Thirty years ago, students from historically Black colleges
descended on Tybee Island, Georgia for their Spring Break. The
damage to the beach and nearby properties was extensive enough
that after about 5 years of this annual ritual, the town fathers
told the provosts of scores of colleges that their students were
no longer welcome. I guess that the Black Beach experience has been
moving South on I-95, passed Jacksonville and now at Daytona.
If this trend continues, the hoards should be at the Space Coast
by 2030.

I believe I remember when Daytona first got tagged as the destination of choice for the black college spring break. My sister and her friends were enjoying the beach at Daytona and suddenly found themselves in the company of a large crowd of black spring breakers. My sister was highly descriptive and uncomplimentary of the experience, having been once abducted at random and nearly raped and murdered by a black criminal.
