Extrapolation, even in our solar system there is only one planet that supports life.
The perfect distance from the star.
A moon just the right size.
Abundant water that is not frozen.
A belt of asteroids that protects our planet from interplanetary objects from routine collision.
Just the right mixture of oxygen and nitrogen in the atmosphere.
Earth is a pretty special place.
Maybe a place that others would like to visit.
Come check out the the monkeys with the highly developed cerebellums before they kill themselves with nuclear weapons

You see that is where your thinking is flawed. You are talking about life as we know it, what it takes for life to survive here on earth. We have no clue as to what or how other intelligent life forms may exist. We know absolutely nothing or very little about the universe except what we can see through a telescope.
