Barring somebody getting all stabby and setting off a nuke, I can’t see why there would not be midterms. But of course I don’t know everything, nor can I see into the future.

No, I don’t expect such a possibility short of, indeed, it all going south. And I fervently hope we’ll have backed out of it well before then. But if it did look like the Dems were on track for the Senate majority to convict (with both Trump and Vance reportedly on the menu for that), I wouldn’t be so sure.
