Hunter Biden did NOT serve jail time for his federal tax conviction. He pleaded guilty to nine charges of tax evasion and filing false returns in September 2024 and faced up to 17 years in prison, then-President Joe Biden pardoned him on December 1, 2024, BEFORE he was sentenced. (WHYY)

Hunter Biden was convicted in a separate June 2024 trial for federal gun charges and pleaded guilty in September 2024 to tax charges involving over $1.4 million in unpaid taxes, which were later repaid.

Then-President Biden issued a full and unconditional pardon covering both cases (tax and gun charges) covering offenses between 2014 and 2024, stating he believed the prosecutions were politically motivated.

Sentencing for the tax offenses was scheduled for December 16, 2024, but his father’s pardon nullified the need for prison time. (United States Department of Justice.gov)

President Donald Trump has claimed that many pardons and commutations issued by former President Joe Biden are “void” and “terminated” because they were signed using an autopen ....by Biden or someone else......(a machine that reproduces a signature) rather than by hand.

However, Trump has not successfully nullified these pardons, and legal experts broadly agree that a president cannot unilaterally revoke a predecessor’s completed pardons.....except if the pardons were issued by someone else and Biden didn’t now about them.
