They’ve told me that my desktop cannot update to W-eleven. And the W-ten installed can’t be updated. I’m not very savvy on the systems. I don’t want to spend thousands. What do I do?
be a good consumer and upgrade your ancient perfectly working computer OR ELSE
Rufus USB maker will allow you to install Windows 11 on an older computer. Ask your favorite AI about it. Rufus is not an updater. You need to copy all your important data onto a large flash drive. Then clean install Windows 11 with the help of Rufus.
YOUR best bet MAY be to find a refurb Win 11 PC on Amazon or eBay. But, be sure it has at least a “7th gen” i-series processor or equivalent in it, as Microsoft may not support the machine.
Something under $250 should be available, but, be sure to get enough RAM (which HAS really shot up in price, driving refurbs up too.) I’d get 16 GB at least. Also be sure on eBay to buy from a reputable seller with lots of feedback - maybe do some communicating back and forth to see if they’ll reliably respond, be helpful, etc.
Try a Linux version...Mint or Ubuntu....they will run happily on yr desktop, for years.
Win 10 LTSC IoT. Under support till 2032 and pretty reasonably de-crapified (Microshaft claims it’s not suitable as a desktop OS, but that’s because they think you want the crapped up version. Cortana and all that bullshit. There’s actually nothing wrong with it. Everything you need and nothing you don’t, actually)
