Once war begins and American soldiers are under fire, a rational discussion of the pros and cons of war becomes nearly impossible. That is exactly why our Founders wrote a Constitution that demands a debate before the initiation of war.
But there was no debate in Congress, let alone a vote. On Feb. 28, Americans awoke to discover that their country was once again embroiled in a war in the Middle East.
Americans were not asked if they would bear the burdens of war. Instead, the American people were told, through a presidential eight-minute video posted around 2:30 in the morning, that the country was, once again, at war.
And because there was no national discussion about going to war, we do not know whether ground troops will be used. We have no idea how long the war will last. We have no idea who will lead Iran after the death of the supreme leader. And we have no idea how many casualties the American people are supposed to tolerate. We cannot know the answer to these questions because no one bothered to make the case that war with Iran was worth the sacrifice.
The Senate is only now debating whether hostilities should end after they’ve already begun. Before I discuss the merits of this war, I want to say that my prayers, and those of my family, are with the troops in the region, those in combat and anyone who may be called to serve.
I do not take lightly that combat has begun, that many have been severely injured, and that lives have been lost.

Both Massie and Paul voted with Democrats.
That says it all.
You insist and making Trump accountable for the actions of Bush, Obama and Biden.
That is wrong on every level. No one is accountable for another person’s past actions.
Go talk to the three losers I just listed if you want accountability. Holding a good man accountable to bad mens actions is morally reprehensible
You know, I didn’t want to attack Iran in this fashion either. I’m sick of the Sand Trap and sick of doing the Israelis bidding.
But it’s clear that Israel could not have done this alone. It’s clear that they likely would have tried anyway. But they would not have been able to achieve the needed results.
That being said, what was the alternative then? Diplomacy wasn’t working. Turn them into a Korea State where we pay them NOT to develop nukes? No. They are zealots that do not think in terms of survival. They think they are divinely saved and it’s their mission to destroy Israel.
So what then? Wait around for there to be a mushroom cloud over Tel-Aviv? There was no acceptable alternative here.
I hate that the US had to be this deeply involved, because if it goes sideways at all, it will simply give them one more reason to hate us. And they have plenty of those already.
So what’s the alternative?
The last two wars actually declared by Congress were World War I and World War II. Woodrow Wilson got re-elected in 1916 on the slogan “he kept us out of war” and FDR got re-elected in 1940 by proclaiming “I hate war.” Both were Democrats, by the way. By then the public should have wised up to the fact that Democrat politicians never tell the truth.
Go read the War Powers Act. The president is authorized to take limited actions in defense of the nation, all nations allow this because they realize it would be suicide to wait for a large group of politicians to give permission.
Love it! Great post!
When in history have Americans voted for war? War is decided by our representative government. Not by plebiscite. An interesting idea, Rand. But it’s never been tried anywhere on earth. And the first country that tries it would probably be destroyed by its enemies early in the plebiscite.
For your powerful message and your precious little service to our country—THANK YOU!!
The receipts? Surely you jest.
We have 47 years worth of receipts.
Trolls are sociopaths.
“The researchers found that trolls scored highly on a number of personality traits examined: Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism, extraversion, disagreeableness and sadism. “
It’s science.

Trump is ending a forever war, not starting one. Pay attention. This is a rescue mission, not an assault.
You are mis-stating Trumps election platform, Trump sad no NEW wars and he also said he would use our military on Iran if the failed to negotiate.
Stop posting lies as facts.
Trump is literally ending a 47 year forever war, this is aligned with the concept of no new wars and ending the forever wars
Both War Powers resolutions failed. You and turncoat RAND can STFU now.
Why should Israel do our dirty work. We helped Islam to take over Iran in 1979.
We need to get the Iranian People free. We did this to them
Not even counting all the American deaths by Iran though the years.
In the Bible God told his people to go to war.
There is a time for war.
Tucker is wrong, sometimes war is righteous, like right now
Do you need some pearls to clutch?
Your service to our country is NOT LITTLE!!!!!
I did NOT see that word when I previewed my message, and am sooo sorry that it is in my post!!h
They have 26 years more than that.
Their receipts go back to 1953, when our CIA staged a coup that overthrew their elected government.
I guess the question to pose to Paul is does he have a better way to keep terrorists in check than to cut off their supplies and their safe havens?
If he’s got something better that saves lives of American citizens and our allies, then I’m all ears. Other wise, come up with something. That’s what we pay you to do and I haven’t heard you not cashing a paycheck. You asked for the responsibility, try doing something you lazy idiot. You’re part of the problem, not the answer. If you can’t do better, then take yourself out of the problem. We don’t need your ineffectiveness. Resign and let someone in that wants to do something about it. You don’t except to whine about it.

Running on an issue is not the same as the people voting for it, but liars from Kentucky know yhat. You are just talking crap to discredit Trump.
I hadn’t looked at it that way even though I agree with you about 1979. I was certainly there to remember.
