What I’ve never seen mentioned in commentaries (although perhaps it’s out there), is what was the deal with the Purim of 1946. Why the specific reference to the previous Purim of 1946.
I don’t know, but it was one of the rare occasions when Purim fell on Saint Patrick’s Day.

Purim פורים also begins with “86”, this year being 5786.
