Texas GOP Candidate Raises Concerns That Primary Opponent Is Democrat Running as Republican
Alexander Hale, who is running to represent Texas’s 7th Congressional District, says he was surprised when he began researching fellow Republican candidate Alexander Kalai.
Hale said he discovered financial ties linking Kalai’s family to prominent Democrat figures.
“I was simply looking up my opponent’s information.
“And I saw on Transparency USA that his father had given [thousands] to Beto” and other top Democrats, Hale said, referring to former Democratic Party Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX).
O’Rourke ran unsuccessfully for both Senate and governor.
“And I thought, ‘well, that is super strange,’” Hale added.
Federal Election Commission filings show that Kalai’s family members have previously donated to Democrat candidates and organizations.
Open Primary Debate
Texas is one of 14 states that use an open primary system.
Under that structure, candidates do not have to be registered members of a party to run in that party’s primary.
Hale argues that the system may allow candidates who do not align with the Republican base to compete under the GOP banner.
“I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say, well, ‘shouldn’t we only have Republicans electing Republicans and Democrats only electing Democrats?’” Hale said.

He delivered a similar message to Mamdani:

Democrats Condemn Trump, Not Tehran
The criticism followed President Trump’s authorization of surprise strikes targeting Iran’s ruling mullahs.
Ocasio-Cortez condemned the president’s actions, accusing him of failing to pursue “diplomacy” and describing him as a “president who does not care about the long-term consequences of his actions.”
Mamdani called the military campaign a “catastrophic” and “illegal” war.
Rapaport’s point was simple: neither lawmaker had publicly condemned the regime during the weeks of reported violence against Iranian civilians protesting for democratic reform.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is warning that Islamic extremists may launch lone wolf terror attacks as President Donald Trump’s administration intensifies its military campaign against the brutal Iranian regime.

Meanwhile, the FBI remains on heightened alert as U.S. forces deploy to the Middle East.
A senior FBI official said the Bureau’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) remains on high alert nationwide, with all resources prepared to respond if requested by law enforcement partners.
DHS circulated a memo over the weekend warning of potential cyberattacks and lone-wolf violence amid the U.S. and Israeli bombing campaign targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
The memo did not cite any specific plots but warned of possible lower-level cyber activity and isolated acts of violence.
On Saturday, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed he had instructed counterterrorism and intelligence teams to elevate readiness levels.
“Our JTTFs throughout the country are working 24/7, as always, to address and disrupt any potential threats to the homeland,” Patel wrote on X.
“While the military handles force protection overseas, the @FBI remains at the forefront of deterring attacks here at home – and will continue to have our team work around the clock to protect Americans,” he added.
