The 2nd warrant by the SDNY was for the search of the seized devices. The warrant was executed by the FBI. The FBI retained the devices including the laptop.
I FOIL'd (NY City's version of an FOIA) the NYPD about Weiner's laptop. Got a bupkus response "can't comment on an ongoing investigation..." or something like that. To this day, no evidence NYPD ever had a copy of the laptop.
