There are no current, publicly documented alternate/backup/mirror sites actively promoted or in use for Free Republic.

In cases of past downtime, users sometimes directed to related community spots like the official Free Republic Facebook group (e.g., facebook.com/groups/26012226159/ ) for updates from the founder/moderators (historically Jim Robinson, who passed in 2025; God bless him).

If it seems slow to refresh or post or PM, add time when you post, say 5s-10s, before "trying again".

I just saw the FB link Foldy posted up thread & visited that site

it seemed to be working fine and several current post were up,including a few about problems wih our main forum

also great advice on the how to deal with the slow moving time lag from 5s-10s from key stoking post button to the post showing up on screen. eliminates most of the double, triple or quad posts we saw yesterday & last night
