I guess doctors can be very pushy.
On paper we do have that right, but apparently the EMS crews who were dispatched to the scene of my near-fatal car accident in 2024 didn't get the memo.
My town is too small to have an EMS service, so the troopers had to have crews dispatched from the County Seat, several miles away. I dutifully signed their digital "Decline" form, as my injuries didn't require treatment. However, about 10 days later I got a bill in the mail for 300 bucks. I went in person to protest, stating that I hadn't received any medical treatment at all, but City personnel's response was that any time their EMS crews are dispatched to any point outside that city, everyone involved gets billed, no matter what. Never saw anything like it before in my long life. Total crap.
