I don't think so. I taught university-level econ at several schools and never deviated from a Friedman-esk approach to a free market economy. True, I ate lunch alone quite often, but I think I held my own on a free market approach to economics. To paint all academic institutions with such a broad brush is both simplistic and misleading. Hillsdale is a well-known example, as are Grove City College, Patrick Henry College, and Bob Jones University. There are many others, too.
