Good news.
Restore ROTC programs.
(only a minority of students will choose to participate but that is true about most elective college programs...)
‘Hegseth says Pentagon cutting ties with top universities, calling them “woke breeding grounds”’
I call them universitshitholes.
“Top Universities” is a misnomer.
They are not top universities. Years back people made fun of “State colleges”, but the fact is a good education no longer is the domain of private universities. Sadly, though, the education system now makes fun of for-profit universities when they have the best education.
No, he is not.
From the article: "They've traded true intellectual rigor for radical dogma, sacrificing free expression for the suffocating confines of leftist ideology. What is the purpose, you may ask, of investing in an education that teaches our warriors to despise the very nation they swore to defend?"
With the Iran situation ongoing, this should be an interesting next couple of news days in the offing. Real warriors versus "social justice warriors," as the Lefties think of themselves.
Hegseth has been a rock star as SecWar!
Good move. It forces the I would need to make a choice. If they choose poorly, then they will end as major educational institutions with national influence.
Hegseth is a breath of fresh air. It’s so refreshing to have a no nonsense straight shooter heading the Department of War.
The leftist takeover of what were top American Universities has been a tragedy. Marinated in arrogance and feigned superiority so many universities have transitioned into the antithesis of centers of learning. Dethroning and defunding these cesspits can’t come soon enough for me.
Thank God for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth
Thank God for President Donald Trump

GREAT!
In fact, he’s quite right.
At risk of likely starting a flame war here... It’s not cut and dry... I wholeheartedly agree they have become total BS, but the devil is in the details. There are numerous institutions that are part of the intern, research, and development portion of our MIC (Military Industrial Complex). Does this impact that? We need centers of excellence for our best and brightest to be able to go to make impact, bring ideas, learn, research etc., for our IC and DoW. We have a crisis today, because the amount of time it takes our industrial base to get connectivity to special environments is quite literally a disaster. If some of these uni’s are already connected to allow classified access new locations I’ve heard can take upwards of 18 to 36 months just to establish connectivity. In the next 2 years, we don’t have that kind of time, we will need a rapid approach to establish connectivity to drive our capability, to get access to innovative minds.
What I would hope is this isnt’ just an extraction, but a doubling down on the Uni’s that do support the mission, and goals of our country. I really think it’s a poor idea just to signal “Peach out!”. But frankly lately I grow less convinced of Hegseth and his propensity to react and threaten. I suppose there are two approaches to leading Carrot, and Stick. But using the Stick on the Industrial base is a recipe for disaster, and basically will guarantee products that don’t innovate, but stagnate.
This is such a huge topic, with so many downstream impacts, secondary, tertiary, unknowns, impacts to R&D. I want those in R&D energized, focussed on missions, improving our lethality, improving our response times etc. I just hope we don’t lose focus on the long-term health for short term political Hashtags.
Generals in skirts are furious.
Thank God for Trump!
Excellent move!
Don’t agree with this. You need a military presence as a bulwark. My son is on 4-year ROTC scholarship at Michigan. It’s a very liberal school. But you have to remember a school with thousands of kids still has thousands of conservatives. Yeah they may be outnumbered 2 to 1 or worse, but you still need to “resist” as the moon bats say.
My brother-in-law is a Naval Academy grad. He’s a very smart engineer egg head. The Navy fully funded his PhD program at MIT. He’s one of the biggest Trump supporters I know.
Isn’t he a graduate of Harvard and Princeton?
Notice how the media is being used by Trump and staff. They have to respond to Trump.
Trump came to divide and unite. The point of division and unification is the same point.
The secretary also said he would be initiating a “top-to-bottom review” of the war colleges to ensure they are “wholly dedicated to the singular mission of developing the most lethal and effective leaders and war fighters the world has ever known.”
