There used to be an excellent electronics store (J&R,now out of business) within walking distance of the WTC that I used to visit occasionally. The walk from the subway station to the store took you past an Episcopal Church that is very old and very famous.IIRC debris from the attack landed on the church's grounds but didn't damage the church itself.

The Episcopal church you saw must be Trinity Church located about 2 blocks south of WTC-2. It was not damaged on 9/11. However, St. Paul's Chapel, which is affiliated with Trinity Church, is located 2 blocks east of the WTCs. A great deal of wreckage from 9/11 fell on that property.
