Some rich/connected developer wants that land.

A developer will build low/no income housing on the spot with or without razing the buildings. It will be a public/private endeavor. The developer will get a sweet price on the land, he will get huge tax breaks for his “philanthropy”, then he will kick back into campaign coffers as payback. Maybe cash too, but it is what happens all the time in WA State.

The city would send cops to motels and bust the owner for having drugs and prostitution in the cheap rooms. After the second time, they seized the property, updated the same Motels and move the homeless drug addicts and hookers, and the taxpayers pay instead of the hookers and drug dealers.

It was a slick move by the WA Congressional Majority Leader, he was “so moved by the homeless etc”, they he started a non-profit and of course profited greatly from it.
