Both Esther Pauline “Eppie” Lederer (Ann Landers) and her twin sister Pauline Phillips (Dear Abby) are deceased. Esther Lederer died in 2002 at age 83, and Pauline Phillips passed away in 2013 at age 94. The “Dear Abby” column is currently written by Jeanne Phillips, Pauline’s enlightened lefty daughter.
Am I the only one who thinks it weird that these supposed “trusted voice of calm reason and sanity” women chose to write under phony names rather than identifying as their real selves?
