....................... “ Everybody’s different; genes are interesting things, and we share the same genes through our moms. Our moms all lived into their 90s. “

Interesting. My mother died at 89, same age I am today. But she had Korsakov’s Syndrome, which means that her brain was fried on alcohol. My MD says I’ll live to be 100. Going for it with organic everythng, no saturated fats, only a rare glass of chardonnay, months between glasses. Weigh 112.

Need more exercise though. I think that’s the key to longevity..

Mom NEVER exercised. Diet was same as when a farm girl — meat, potatoes, desserts after every meal, snacks/sweets etc.

OTOH, her sister, who was a year younger was sanctimoniously and annoyingly rigid about exercise and eating healthy. She died five years before Mom.

Both were preachers wives; no alcohol as passed their lips ... ever.

Mom had a lot of interests and was a political wonk. She always wanted to learn new stuff. She accompanied the school choirs on piano (difficult music) until she was 90, and still played for church when she was 99.

Her sister’s only interest was reading, and she derided people who discussed politics.

Their sister, also a preacher’s wife, was two years younger than Mom, and lived life similar to Mom. She had brain cancer when she was 80 and died that way.

It’s a crap shoot, right?
