Our government overthrew the Shah. Not the Iranian people.
I remember when the Ayatollah first landed in Iran. The people mobbed him with hysterical cheering and happiness. When he touched a man’s hand that person would fall to the ground rolling a fit of Ecstasy.
Years later, when he finally choked and croaked the people went into hysterical fits of mourning and caused his bier to drop to the ground and you could see his naked legs. At that moment those taking the video stopped filming as it was so shameful the way they acted over him.
They got what they wanted.
