Obviously, we have to obey the laws that are on the books at the time, but societal norms and mores change. That’s why gays can marry and in many states pot can be purchased over the counter. If these laws were being re-written today I daresay they would be much less punitive for this kind of behavior. When people can’t even agree on basic things like the definition of a woman, don’t be surprised when they don’t think a post-pubescent boy needs protection from doing something every kid of his age dreams of doing.

If it started when he was 13 or 14 chances are he was just entering or had just started puberty. She committed a crime. This is not like a 20 year old having a sexual relationship with a 17 year old. This was a women twice his age and in a position of authority playing out her fantasies. The tolerance for this behavior would not be so forthright if the teacher was male or a less attractive female.

Many post pubescent boys have fantasies of having sex with their mothers(Oedipus complex). If the Mom has the Jacosta complex ( mom desires sex with son), and Mom manipulates son, and he helps carry out her fantasies, would you characterize the act by saying, for instance, that the Mom was was “not guilty” cause she was good looking to you and the kid was “lucky”?
