Tapes containing the original, high-quality transmission of the Apollo 11 moon landing were wiped after being quietly shelved in an unmarked storage area by NASA.
While other recordings of the historic 1969 mission survived, the revelation that at least some moon landing video disappeared has fueled wild conspiracies that NASA has been covering up what astronauts saw or even that the whole mission was faked.
Now, the truth about these 'erased' tapes has been revealed by Tim Dodd, better known as the 'Everyday Astronaut' on YouTube, who said the lost footage was only a set of backup magnetic tapes containing the raw transmission from space.
Dodd explained that the backup tapes were considered by NASA to be less critical since all the essential data, video, and radio signals were successfully transmitted to Houston and broadcast live on TV.
The backup copies of Apollo 11's historic mission were mistakenly taped over when NASA reused older magnetic tapes due to a shortage of those specific film reels in the 1970s and 1980s.
Speaking on the Danny Jones Podcast, Dodd said no one at the time anticipated future technology would be able to upscale or enhance the resolution (upres) of the raw footage for better quality, which is now possible today.
However, NASA still possesses thousands of hours of data proving the first moon landing really took place, including lower-quality versions of telemetry data, audio, and video from Houston's recordings.
Dodd added that the space agency also still has shockingly clear 70 millimeter film from the cameras the Apollo astronauts used on the moon, a grade of film that is still used in IMAX movies 57 years later.

Yes, I know it to be TRUE. Look up the details of the Apollo Command Module, it is all explained there. It was a special sextant that was built into the ship. It had three lines of sight: One for the the sun. one for a guide star, and another for the leading edge of the moon. (Normal sextants have two lines of sight.)
The gyroscope-based navigation system was subject to drift, even though it was the best they could build in those days. This drift was significant enough to fail the landing. Sextant sightings were used to reset the IMU platforms for absolute actual positioning relative to the moon, earth, and sun.

The Apollo stuff is pretty well documented. I suggest you leave the juvenile YouTube presentations to the juveniles, and get your material from reputable sources. Over 600 companies and 600,000 people developed and flew those missions. Very few of those were government employees. They were employees of the companies and universities who actually designed and built Mercury/Gemini/Apollo.
I remember reading about this over 30 years ago, but it is a timely reminder that something similar is happening right now.

47 apparently wants NASA’s Artemis to succeed, but on a heavily reduced budget [ much of which was restored by Sen Cruz ] only for the prestige. NASA science is anathema to him, and only some of it got recently restored - particularly the Mars Return Sample Mission, [ the culmination of all previous Mars missions and mega-billions spent on them ].
Had no one attempted to restore NASA to its former shoestring budget, neither Artemis, James Webb, Hubble and more recent space based imaging systems would be in operation now. As it is thousands of highly skilled NASA engineers and others were fired. Perhaps Isaacman will rehire them, but all the progress that could have been made, is lost.
As I recall, the original story had some low level NASA functionary throwing out roomfuls of tapes, documents, and reports to clean up NASA’s storage rooms and to make way for newer stuff. No doubt he got a raise for his efficiency.
Anyone who believes we didn’t actually land on the moon has the science acumen of roadkill.

People sworn to real secrets keep them to the grave - none of them want to have their lives ruined, lose their jobs, credit, homes, families. And in some cases, their lives - should they talk.
How many thousands of people have worked at Groom Lake since it began? All of them were sworn to secrecy. If your theory were remotely correct, we would be inundated by tales from their work lives but crickets. How many thousands of people have worked for NSA or the CIA? Do wee read about their missions on a daily basis? All of them were sworn to secrecy. Or Spec Ops guys bragging about classified missions they did? All of them were sworn to secrecy.
They’re all humans and never 100% perfect - especially large numbers. Secrets being leaked from “top secret” organizations are by no means unheard of. Resentment, financial incentives, ego...there are many reasons to spill the beans.

Then there is the book “The Jesus Factor” which claims atomic weapons only work when they are exploded on a stationary platform. The end result of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were produced by fire bombing the cites and dropping radioactive pellets at random, while Disney painted shadows of people on walls.
The author of course presents lots of evidence to support his theory, saying that every nation know this and keeps it secret, because everyone knows that if the secret got out, nations would use chemical and biological weapons to replace the dud atomic ones.
