It would help a lot if CORPORATE and brave academic leaders came out and said they would not name Thom Tillis to any boards of directors if he voted against the SAVE Act.

Tillis is counting on that for a very cushy retirement.

No but if either Fetterman or Collins vote yes, we can pass or JD Vance can break a tie.

Doesn’t the bill need 60 votes?

If John Thune will break the Senate rule about a silent filibuster (60 votes), and demand an actual voice filibuster (majority vote to pass), we wouldn’t be facing a shutdown, and the Save act would pass easily.

I thought Thune had committed to a talking filibuster for this but maybe wrong?

Her staff doesnt answer the phone. At least Sullivan has a voice mail.

I called 1/2 hour before he signed on. You can thank me.

I'm confused too. Something is missing. Is it something about 50 co-sponsors allows or demands a standing filibuster? Cause like you, I don't see the distinction between this and any other piece of legislation that has been killed by the ghost filibuster.

I guess the logic for nuking the filibuster would be a carveout of some kind, like election law. But when the Dems control the House and Senate, in come the mail in ballots, no ID, instant registration, amnesty for all, etc. Maybe they are going to do it anyway, and maybe this might affect elections enough to keep it from happening. But I fear worse cause our country has no center of reason.

Shoot, I could see the Dems allowing taking the oath of citizenship at the polls. They've gone off the deep end.
