I think your view has merit. There is certainly two sides when one takes an honest look at Lincoln. Especially when you consider the savage brutality Sherman inflicted on the south.

By the time Sherman made his march through the South, the war was no longer about keeping the money flowing into Northern pockets, it had become a war of hatred and revenge, because those damn Southerners had fought so hard and made it cost so much to subjugate them.

But 5 to 1 manpower always wins in the end, if someone was fanatical enough to shed so much blood, which Lincoln was.

Thank God that King George III was not so willing to kill so many people. He decided to just let us go rather than continue the killing.
