Funny thing. Most of the time people say that politicians promise but don’t deliver. Mandamai promised, and the the math said that this is what he would deliver. NYC got exactly what it voted for.
Simple Math, when 2% of the population are paying for 73% of all tax revenue, in a city of 8 million, all you need is about 80k people to move their residence and the tax base collapses. Then you can’t afford basic services.

I recall that that very calculation put the fear of God into Bloomberg when he was mayor. He talked about it as a hard limiter as to what can be done.
