Television personality Sage Steele is back in the hot seat after telling former first lady Michelle Obama to “shut up” about Black women’s hair struggles.
The former ESPN anchor addressed the former first lady on her Actual Friends podcast, criticizing remarks Michelle Obama made in November about Black women's hair and the pressure many feel to straighten it due to Eurocentric beauty standards.

I've lost all respect for this woman because of how she's choosing to behave with that title of former first lady. It's funny and it's pathetic,” Steele said in a clip shared online.
“Because what you’re doing, you’re sitting there b-tching about white people’s standards to force you to make it straight,” she added. “And what are you doing, getting paid $100,000+ per speech, straightening your damn hair?”

So true!
🥰
My grandmother Memere use to give myself and my sisters Toni perms just before Easter Sunday! LOL… after all the torture….frizzy. We all had straight blond and brunette hair. My Memere managed to style our frizz with rag curls so we looked great for Mass on Sunday. Love her and memory of my Memere!
She’s pretty. My wife is too.
My wife is so Louisiana, you’d have to straighten her curls to get her in to Texas. She’s a hell of a mix.
Sage Steele is REALLY cute...

My oldest daughter has super curly hair. When she was about 11, she came downstairs with tears in her eyes. I asked what was wrong and she cried I’m out of conditioner.”
Being bald and a guy, I said, “What’s conditioner?’
Happy black history month.
If Big Mike wants to be taken seriously, he needs to shave his head. That’s big in blacademia.
I didn’t realize that a black woman’s hair was a unique veterans hat. Shut up!
😆
The black ladies I see in movies and on TV are mostly police chiefs, mayors and senators with lots of subservient whites beneath them.
Free Aunt Jemima! And Uncle Ben!
Sage is a she. She’s on Newsmax quite often.
Especially since she is a he.
Relatable. My college friends described my hair as “combed by unseen winds ...”
I’ve always been shocked when people object to black people having neat well groomed hair in unconventional styles. Are we really so shallow that we can’t see the person because of their hair? Apparently Michelle might be just that shallow.
