What constitutes good comedy, indeed.
I think I’ve seen clips, but I’ve never seen a prewar comedy that I’ve enjoyed all that much. The Thin Man had five sequels which were played for laughs, but those Powell/Loy were dynamite together. They made 13 films together in total.

I watched the first half of this movie.
It’s stupid.
One test: can a joke, bit, sketch, short, or movie stand up by itself without a laugh track?
And the music is crazy good thanks to Chico and Harpo.
I would love a harp in the house, but we’re outa room for more music instruments.
