Sounds like they are in some kind of cult. There should be a type of family togetherness especially when kids are young but the ones that dont let their kids start exploring independently before adulthood are generally wackos.
Is it possible the family were invited by the woman?
Maybe it was her first date since a divorce, or maybe an abusive relationship. Maybe she is very cautious, maybe even frightened (if there was a history of abuse). FWIW, personal observation has shown that abused people tend to end up in the situation more than once and abusive people seek out victims.

Personally, a can spot a clusterB from a mile away, but can be deceived by them in close, relationships, when emotionally involved...it’s my anti-superpower 🫩
