Some good news - my SIL had hip replacement surgery first thing this morning. It all went well & she’s been in recovery for about an hour. Her daughter (my niece), flew in from out of state to be a “private nurse” today through Monday. She’s a PA so we all feel better having her keep an eye on things. My SIL has been in pretty bad pain since October - initially thought it was sciatica. After her PCP messed around for a couple of weeks, she finally got to a hip doctor & found out she has serious arthritis in that hip (other hip is fine - go figure!) & needed a replacement. She always has the best garden & plants about mid-April so she should be good to go or close to it by then.

That is good news! I’m glad your niece is stepping up to help care for her!

Today is was nearly 60, and pretty sunny! I was running around doing errands, so I hope tomorrow is nice again, so that I can go outside and start checking things out. It felt like a real Spring day, and now I can hardly wait to get gardening!

Among my stops today was an unplanned one. I went to Meijer to get a few household supplies, and in particular, I was looking for fire starters. They were out of the kind I like, but the app said they had some in stock. So the customer service lady reminded me that Menards is just one long block away.

Well!! That turned into an adventure! I found the fire starters, but figured I should get some fixings for the backyard birds while I was there. Their prices are always so great, but it’s not exactly near my house, so I don’t often go there. Time to fill up my cart! So I did! Found some light bulbs that aren’t easy to find, and a new toilet seat for the guest bathroom that broke with our recent houseguests. For an unplanned stop, it turned into a bonanza! Well done, Menards! (And hat tip to the Meijer customer service lady for the suggestion!)

I worry that since my Mom had severe arthritis problems, I’ll end up with such too, but, this last month my biggest “pain” has been come and go muscle pain at the top of the ol’ gluteus maximus, on both sides. I guess I’ve just overworked ‘em - they seem to be worse the better the lifting technique I use!

Plus, I never give them enough real time to recover - there’s always more work to do.

Better there than actually in my lower spine, I think! Ooh-ooh-ooh...
