I watched part of an episode of Bridgerton last night with the wife and was shocked to see a black queen in England in the 1820s. The main character throws a party and all of high society shows up, including an asian woman and her daughters. (She looks Vietnamese, but I didn’t look her up to be sure).
I pointed out these likely historical inaccuracies to the wife. I don’t THINK the BBC is responsible for this series, but it’s rife throughout all produced content these days it seems.
They could have been historically accurate if they covered Henri Christophe also known as King Henry I of Haiti who built the Sans-Souci Palace (modeled after an European Palace).
