I’d made it to my college classes only to discover they’d been canceled because of weather (it was -20° that morning) so I stopped into my mom’s real estate office. Everyone was huddled around a TV and quietly chatting. I’d missed it live, but caught the first replay. It was the only thing on TV for the rest of the day.

I was in college and in between classes I had walked down to 174 pizza shop in Plymouth NH. The pizza cook who I knew having worked at the same restaurant (Yokens) in Portsmouth NH while in high school told be the space shuttle exploded. At first I thought he was joking, but they had a tv in the shop and I saw the news on the screen. Sad day for America.
