thanks for sharing that and pretty cool that your son got his nickname from him! I had just graduated from my undergrad school...was walking thru the student union building when it happened...couldn’t believe my eyes. Little did I know that I would be in the space program just 2 years after that.
Yeah, Andrew was on our list of potential names, but we let nixing it because we didn’t like “Andy” for a nickname with our surname. Once I saw “Drew” we changed our minds.
It’s funny, our son goes by “Andrew” professionally, but you can always tell when someone doesn’t know him, because he’s been “Drew” for everyone else.
Maybe the Challenger disaster prompted you to consider to working with the space program after that? You know, to fix things?
