The man shot dead during a struggle with federal agents in Minneapolis has been identified as an intensive care nurse who treated critically ill military veterans.
Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was killed shortly after 9am Saturday after an altercation involving multiple federal officers.
Minneapolis police confirmed the deceased was a white, 37‑year‑old Minnesota resident and US citizen.
Pretti's friends have since confirmed his identity to the Daily Mail as they paid tribute to the 'good, kind' who they say was 'executed' by a Border Patrol agent.
The University of Minnesota alumnus most recently listed himself as a ‘junior scientist’ on LinkedIn.
He worked as a nurse for the Veterans Health Administration at the Minneapolis VA hospital and earned a reported $90,783 in 2023, according to public records.
‘I worked with him daily for years at the VA hospital,’ Ruth Anway, a Minneapolis‑based nurse, told the Daily Mail.
‘He was an ICU nurse. He worked with veterans. He was a really good guy. He definitely did not deserve to get killed.’
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told the Daily Mail that agents were in the area attempting to apprehend, ‘an illegal alien wanted for violent assault’ when they were approached by Pretti.
According to DHS, Pretti was armed and carrying a gun with two magazines at the time he was detained. The agency later released a photograph of a nine‑millimeter semi‑automatic handgun it said was recovered during the clash.
Officials claimed officers attempted to disarm Pretti but that he ‘violently resisted’ before a Border Patrol agent fired the fatal shot.
Pretti was pronounced dead at the scene. DHS said he did not have identification on him at the time.
Video from the scene shows agents wrestling with Pretti and taking him to the ground moments before the shooting.

Exactly! I fully support people carrying pistols. And two magazines is normal. I’ve done it on several occasions myself.
But not when you are going up against federal law enforcement officers who are trying to arrest criminal foreign national invaders for deportation with the intent of obstructing and impeding their efforts to perform their jobs.

Yes, soy boy was literally dragging another protestor to try to stop ICE from arresting him.
This after committing felony obstruction. The other two protesters need to be charged with murder under the Felony Murder rule.
My only problem with this case is why so many ICE agents couldn’t subdue this man? Two of them should be able to overcome a man easily and in this instance there were 5 or 6 and still struggling. Too many chefs in the kitchen make it harder to cook.

This good boy and aspiring poet was simply out for a walk to buy some Skittles when he was randomly gunned down by Trump’s stormtroopers.
The weapon was taken from Pretti during the struggle. The officer who shot him did not know Pretti’s weapon had been taken. All he saw was the weapon no longer in his waistband. The struggle was so intense, it was hard to catch all that was going on. When the officer saw a glimpse of Pretti’s hand holding his cell phone, he thought in that brief moment he was holding his gun. With Pretti’s back towards him, he couldn’t see what he was really holding in his hand. And in seconds Pretti was going to start shooting.
Pretti should have never carried that gun in his waistband at that protest. Any one could have grabbed it and started shooting.
Pretti got his fafo moment. He just did not bite off anyone’s finger.
If it was so hard to see what was going on, how are you sure what happened. Perhaps the officer saw something you could not. Also who shows up to “peacefully” protest with a loaded gun and two more clips ready to go? What I thought I saw the man in gray kick away looked like the cell phone to me but then my eyes aren’t great theses days. Maybe we should just wait for more details to come out???

Yeah, these commies are the epitome of the useful idiot. They insert themselves into inherently dangerous situations for basically nothing more than entertainment.
In one of the vids you can see an agent walk up with what looks like a black and silver thermos and he drops it mid scuffle. It bounces around the guy on the ground. I wouldn’t be surprised if the agent that fired caught a glimpse of it spinning around by hands and thought it was a gun.
Good shoot/bad shoot, I don’t know until we find out more about the agent’s perspective. Regardless, I blame the commies in general as they are begging for this kind of crap to happen. If it turns out to be a mistake, they will feel it’s a success as they’ll get to ruin an agent’s career through their antics.
Good Kind Men who pull guns on armed law enforcement officers get shot. It is sort of like a law of nature.
