Someone opened the access door and shot it with the paint ball gun with balls filled with vegetable oil:
That agitated the bear enough to squeeze through the opening and exit, where it was again shot with the paint balls until it left the area.
I assume at least one team member had a firearm with sufficient stopping power if the bear became aggresive with them.
