Take a look a the efficiency of the first gasoline engine versus the ones today. Model 5 had maybe 20 HP, got 13-20 MPG (downhill). Now you can get 200-300 HP, ad 17-27 MPG. It took us 100 years to get there.

Now look at the speed of innovation in batteries and electric motors.

My biggest beef with batteries is fire. Anything that can't be put out once ignited (I've seen lithium burn underwater) doesn't belong in my garage. And now with domestic enemies, and guerilla warfare, and people hacking driverless vehicles ... well ... anything that can be so easily weaponized is foolish to make ubiquitous. But if the battery technology has advanced to the level touted in this video, I'll get as excited as you. I've bookmarked the Verge website. If they start shipping product using the Donut battery, I might just dip my toe in that water and see how real it is for myself.

So much wrong with that point. They have had 1000 HP motors for almost 100 years. The rest of your points are just as easily shot down. If you want to live where you are stripped of choice you are in the wrong country.
