It is invalid to point to poverty as the causal reason: In the 1950s, when Jim Crow was still prevalent in much of the country and Blacks were still to be found largely in the underclass, single motherhood was still rare among Blacks!

I didn't say that poverty was the cause. I said that single motherhood was prevalent among impoverished people, particularly black ones. There's a difference. Dysfunctional behavior - i.e. lack of discipline and self-control, leads to poverty, just as it leads to single motherhood.

I also said that radical feminist ideology doesn't have much to do with either because I very much doubt that the typical slum dweller spends her time reading radfem pamphlets.

True! And I admit that I was too eager to infer that you were equating correlation with causation! Sorry!

But here you are wrong! Slum dwellers might not be reading radfem pamphlets - but, in the meantime, our whole culture is steeped in the stuff! It's ubiquitous! It's in the very air we breathe!
