electrocuted to death
——-
I noticed somewhere along the way, and someone who writes for a living should know better, people forgot “electrocuted” is not a synonym for “shock”.
It was a word coined to mean dead. Electricity + Execution = Electrocuted or Electrocution. Dana sounds stupid here.
Yeah, but watt is he up to currently?
I guess tased,shocked,fried,zapped,electrified,ect. are paraphrases?
I have friends who have been electrocuted and revived.
One was in a coma for a month and lost all childhood memories.
They can claim they survived electrocution.
Is it worse than drowning to death?
Well, I am shocked!
It was an awkward construction, but Merriam-Webster defines "electrocuted" either to be shocked by electricity or killed, or executed by electricity. For instance, if writing about a convict on death row, the meaning of "electrocuted" would be clear in context. For a person looting a demolition site, not so much. I might have phrased the led, "A would-be thief died by electrocution when, ..." Less awkward and unambiguous.
