The article is carefully written to obscure the fact that it was a vehicular attempted murder that produced the shooting, just like many of the articles on the Martin/Zimmerman shooting.

Cops don’t know when the threat is going to stop. They don’t have the choice of waiting to see exactly how far a perp is willing to go.
Those are the same people who were saying Treyvon Martin was just slamming Zimmerman’s head in the concrete and wasn’t threatening to kill him. He was going to stop any minute but Zimmerman shot him before he got a chance to.
If someone is breaking into my house with a weapon, I’m not going to give them a questionnaire to fill out detailing their intentions before mounting a rigorous, and probably deadly, defense.
