Never heard of trannies until maybe sometime during the late ‘90’s, but homos & dykes have always been around.
IMHO today there are two kinds of trannies: the ones who just change their clothes and expect to be treated like the opposite sex, and the ones who undergo hormone and perhaps surgery to enact physical changes as well.
The former have always been around: we called them cross dressers and we laughed at them. The latter have been around for a while too, we called it "sex changes" or transexuals. We laughed at them too. Both groups were very few in number, almost non-existent.
The left changed the wording from "dressers" and "sex" to "gender", which they rebranded to pretend it has multiple shades instead of being binary (just simply male or female). It's all in the way the left has branded the word "gender". But it's all in branding.
