I expected that sort of lazy excuse for actually grappling with the point I raised. Producing fraudulent likenesses of people saying something they never did, without making clear that it is an AI, is depriving those people their right to express themselves as intended. How do we fix that?
What I wrote was no "excuse." Rather, it was merely making an observation that - given the general moral climate and political conditions in DC - it is to be expected that any attempt to rectify the appalling situation (of the fraudulent likeness of people being generated using A.I.) will undoubtedly be exploited by certain bad actors for their own nefarious ends.
The correct inference would thus have been: alexander_busek warns that we must be ever vigilant - not that I advocate doing nothing.
