'Publix is wildly overpriced,' someone else chimed in.

Have to agree with this, as the main supermarket in our part of South Carolina is Publix. Fortunately there is competition in our area from Food Lion and Kroger. And I guess Walmart, but I can't stand shopping at Walmart.

Harris-Teeter is a great supermarket on nearby Hilton Head Island, but can be a bit pricey. Better quality and selection of products than Publix though.

I miss our excellent (and more reasonably priced overall) supermarkets in my former home state of Connecticut: Shop Rite, Stop & Shop and Big Y (plus wonderful family-owned markets like Geissler's and Highland Park Market).

I live in north Florida.....Harris-Teeter failed miserably here.

Aldi has bought out winn Dixie.

The grocery business is super competitive
