Cool! Which story is that?
Those old days when girls sat underneath chinaberry trees playing with baby dolls I fear are long gone. Or almost gone.
I was outside for hours nearly every day. When I wasn’t playing with dolls, I was tagging along behind my older brothers, walking through the woods and seeing what marvelous things we could find. I loved our adventures.
Ha...you made me remember...playing in mud puddles with my brother...we lived south of Seattle
It’s near the beginning of “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” The family is traveling by car and when they stop to eat there’s a chained pet monkey in a chinaberry tree picking its fleas and eating them. The monkey scrambles to the highest branch when the kids run toward it screaming with delight. There’s also a cat named Pitty Sing that the grandmother has smuggled in a picnic basket against her son’s wishes.
