Re: Righty tightly...
It’s a good saying, however an old mechanic showed me a physical version...
Move your right hand to the front and pretend that you are holding a bottle or can — your fingers are naturally curled the left and your thumb is curled to the left.
Now, without moving your fingers, rotate your thumb up, point to the sky...
Imagine that if you need to loosen a nut or bolt just below your hand: you need the bolt to ‘twist in the direction of your thumb’ — your fingers now show you the direction to turn a wrench.
If your nut or bolt needs to be tightened ‘down’ then point your thumb on the downward direction...
(Of course it works just the opposite south of the equator...)

Not really
I just relate to the volume control - if you want it louder, you turn it clockwise, softer, then counterclockwise. Turning it up is tightening, turning it down is loosening. Once in a while, when you’re working on something where the screw/nut/bolt is underneath and you can’t see it, just motion the wrench direction in the air and that is how you want to turn it.
Thanx...thanx a lot...I just sprained my thumb
