Grok OFTEN gets things wrong.

Over half the time, when I ask how to do something in Windows 11 or some other program, it gives me a wrong answer. Which Grok admits after I say it didn't work.

I'll ask how to do something in Windows 11. Grok responds. I try it. Doesn't work. I tell Grok.

Then Grok says, "That's correct. Windows 11 shut down that feature on so-and-so date. Sorry for the outdated answer. But here's what you can do ...

Then it gives me another faulty answer.

Once I went through 3 or 4 incorrect answers with Grok, including changing the registry. Grok remained friendly and chatty. "Yeah, that's a tough one. Windows 11 really resists changing that feature. But here's something else you can try..."

But by then I had it with Grok. I just walked away.

Grok is sometimes helpful, but often not.

Silly, how some Freepers treat Grok's answers like Moses coming down from the mountain.

You’re likely not being specific enough in your programming it for the answers you are looking for. Your second issue is that you even use Windows.

To reduce the kind of problems you've had, I gradually figure out what specifications to add. For example, I ask for sources from the past year. I ask GROK to list sources so I can check them. I sometimes ask Grok to repeat the report and remove ALCU or NPR. I sometimes specify the types of sources I want (provide a list). SOmetimes I ask for more than one solution and then I check out the publications Grok listed to see if I agree.

I appreciate Grok writing letters for me. I still read through the letters and make any changes I want. I prepared a letter for a friend - she gave me criteria which I gave to grok. I then asked it to write a letter as a concerned citizen against a certain building project. I told grok to locate other cities which this builder has worked in and provide any objections to the builder's work. BINGO. Fantastic show stopping letter properly formatted for immediate delivery to the board - in about 30 seconds.

There is still an active human component - I look at it for things missing or things I don't want etc. Sometimes I ask a few questions and then have Grok synthesize it into one document after I've seen all the details in the earlier responses.

A time saver was giving GROK a pile of medical posts and links to FR on numerous topics and having Grok provide a tidy, organized list in response.

Here's the beastly pile of helpful comments and links from helpful FReepers:

Here's the convenient, organized list Grok created in about 40 seconds while I sipped coffee:
