I could have saved them from this idiocy with just a few questions.

1. What is the source, quantity, and price of waste food to feed the bugs? That will be turned into animal feed?

2. Can we make animal feed via bugs cheaper than traditional animal feed?

3. If the answer to number 2 is no, you are and idiot and probable grifter.

Post Bankruptcy:

4. We would really like to look at your financial books. Can we do this? NO! Why not?

They chose the wrong species of critter. Mealworms are picky eaters and not all that easy to propagate.

Black soldier flys and their larvae on the other hand are already in commercial production used world wide for waste management solutions and bulk animal feed. They are 60% protein by mass and are a 3:1 substitute for soybeans and 2:1 for fishmeal due to that massively high protein content which like all animal or insect protein is complete with all 9 essential amino acids in the proper balance for all monogastric animals and every vertebrate including avians or predators or scavengers too. Think predatory farm raised fish(tuna, salmon, trout) scavengers like crab, lobster, crayfish ect.

“The Larval Diet
Black soldier fly larvae are voracious feeders and thrive on decomposing organic matter. Their diet includes:

Food Waste:

◦ Fruits, vegetables, and other kitchen scraps.

◦ Spoiled or leftover food that would otherwise go to landfills.

Agricultural Waste:

◦ Crop residues, plant material, and other byproducts of farming.

Brewery waste, including spent grains.

Manure:

◦ Animal manure, including that from poultry, cattle, and pigs. This ability makes them useful in agricultural systems for managing livestock waste.

Other Organic Materials:

◦ Rotting meat, fish, or dairy.”

They make dang fine feed from agricultural, food processing, and even manure waste streams.

You can even grow them for your own chickens, pigs , ducks, geese or even goats.

The key difference is BSF have already been commercialized they are grown at scale and already used for feed and waste solutions so there is not any pump and dump VC to be had just critters quietly munching away at what would be landfill space wasting waste turning it into high quality feed and fertilizer or as one of the links above shows even BSF droppings are so high in protein that chickens thrive on it once they are done you can use their droppings as fertilizer or just feed it back to more BSF larvae it’s circular and genius.
