Judit Polgar made it into the top ten chess players in the world. That has not been repeated by a woman.

Her father was a talented amateur who tutored the girls. Judit was the youngest of the three. As young girls, they enjoyed playing one another.

What is, and what is innate, is often a question. Did they have great genes? Did their environment create a hothouse for developing their abilities? Both?

Chess has always been a mystery to me. What is it about the human brain that can create a grand master like Magnus Carlsen, 12 year old grand masters and an equally talented, 3-year-old Indian prodigy Sarwagya Singh Kushwaha, earning a FIDE rating in late 2025.
