That kind of non-action encourages lawlessness, because if behavior is not punished (like Somali Day Care Fraud) one, we see only the tip of the iceberg, and two: There is going to be a lot, lot more of it.
Two of the purposes of the police are to prevent crime, and to apprehend people who commit crime and put them into the legal system for prosecution and punishment.
If the police do not do that, what is the point of having them? There are people who want to do away with the police, and they understand the full impact of that rhetorical question.
That was all that the BLM, “defund the police” nonsense really boiled down to, which was the criminal class demanding to be allowed to commit their crimes without consequence, and to be gifted the ability to persecute you as a “racist” if you pointed out the truth.
